Sigma 85mm F1.4 EX DG HSM
Posted By: pop4, 04-28-2011, 03:33 AM

I picked the Sigma 85/1.4 up this afternoon, and as I do with all new lenses that I get, I do a little product shoot of them. Most of the time, I do the standard white background look, but today, I decided to do something a bit different and throw in some black background shots.

Mostly shot with K-5/K-7 and the Sigma 85/1.4's little brother, the Sigma 50/1.4.
- the white background shots were lit with two Yongnuo YN560 flash units shooting through 33" shoot-through umbrellas at 45° high left and right of the subject, and triggered by Yongnuo RF-602 wireless flash triggers
- the black background shots were lit with a single gridded YN560 flash unit subject right, and triggered by a Yongnuo RF-602 wireless flash trigger.

Cool!

I do the same. Except, mine are usually used. I've tried different color backgrounds too, but black and white seem to work best.

Really nice shots. I think #4 is my favorite.

Beautiful! As good as product shots can get, frankly.

My lenses are about half and half brand new/used; I don't see any problem buying 2nd hand, but I don't think any Sigma 85/1.4 lenses are on the second hand market yet!
And I'm also personally gravitating towards #4.

Thanks
But, there's always room for improvement!

Great product shots! Number 2 is very yummy.

Hope we'll be seeing some shots done with the lens from you.
