Jim, this is a very cool shot - you caught her just at the right moment. Can you tell us something about the Maryland Dove?

Great photo. An artist would have taken days to paint that. You, the photographer, had fleeting moments to capture it.

Thanks for the comments. This one was the best shot from a series I took with the setting sun in different positions. Tried getting the sun behind the masts but they didn't turn out as good as I thought they would. Waiting for the sun to drop behind the tree line was a race against the park's closing time. I won, by a couple of minutes.

The Dove is a full-scale recreation of the 17th century original that brought the first settlers to Maryland in 1634. It was lost at sea shipping goods back to England in 1635.

Thanks for the info - can you imagine how hard life was on a craft like this plowing across the Atlantic. In striking contrast to my wife and I putting around on a 30ft fiberglass sailboat in Galveston Bay with the fridge full of cold beer.
