Hummingbirds
Lens: Various Camera: K5
Posted By: OrenMc, 04-30-2011, 06:54 AM

Not sure if this a Rufus or an Anna's hummingbird. The PP was a rush and I plan on refining a little. It was a little cloudy and these were shot a higher ISO than I prefer
but the k 5 does a great job. I am still in the habit of shooting as I did with K10/20/7 and therefore don't often take advantage of the K5's ablities.
Hope you enjoy!

What a gorgeous little jewel of a bird! Nice going to capture one sitting still, which I gather doesn't happen very often.
The first shot looks to have a bit of noise in the background which you might want to work on. And is that a smudge on your sensor in the second shot, between the bird's shoulder and the branch?
Very nice captures of a difficult subject.

Thank you wombat for commenting.
I edited the first post to explain a little about the PP. In the second shot I did a rush job on cloning out some branches and that is the smudge you see I think. They do have a little work left to be done.

Beautiful... and I'm someone who doesn't usually like photos of birds
The colors are just gorgeous, and you got some amazing detail captured there.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments. I love shooting hummingbirds and I found a great spot for them. I have more to process so I will be sharing more.

Beautiful shots! They look like Anna's, I believe Rufous are more of a brownish color vs green backed. The second one in the stretch pose is awesome!

Great shots!

That 2nd image may be one of the most unique hummer shots that I've had the pleasure of viewing.
