Cattle Egret fight
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm @300mm Camera: K-x Photo Location: City Park ISO: 1600
Posted By: photolady95, 05-10-2011, 02:51 PM

Shutter speed 1/1250s, f14.

Down at the park this morning a few birds around, these Cattle Egret were lurking and next thing I know, they're fighting.

Thanks Jer. The one in the back. You can't see his or her head but it was chasing the smaller one away.

Awesome - do you have more in the series?

Thanks. But why more in the series? The big one beat up the little one and they went their separate ways.

Usually, Bob, they hang around cows and horses. It's usual to see them around water like this. I was surprised when I found one there a week ago. Then today there are two. Thanks for the compliment.

Beautiful shot of beautiful birds, Mar -- love the subtle coloration around the head and down the neck a bit. I envy you the egrets and herons there. Well done catching a shot like this, especially that you were surprised to find them there. I missed an owl in flight shot the other day because I wasn't ready and didn't expect to see one. I kicked myself because I had the proper lens mounted and the cam round my neck.

Thanks Tamia. You have birds there I never will see here. Plus you have all that water around you and all I have is an intercoastal waterway and an ocean.
I have missed owl shots here. We have two that have been around here for years, but when they show up, I'm never ready for them.
