My first Lighting shot
Lens: 18-55mm Camera: Pentax K10D Photo Location: TX ISO: 100 Aperture: F3.5

Did not use a tripod but I guess I should had but still not bad,

Chris, great hand held shot, I wonder how you will do with a tripod and camera on bulb mode. We have traveled all over the US and Texas has some of the best lightning shows we have ever seen. Looking forward to more of your photos, in fact I will give this "sport" of lightning watching and photography a try as we travel. thanks Bob

Hand-held lightning is tough to do, nice shot.

Speaking as a guy who stood on his deck for 45 minutes trying to capture one during a busy storm,

I do think timing is everything.

Well I really need to keep up to date with my posts.
There was really nothing to this, just your average bulb shot, I just hold the shutter button until I get good flash of lighting.
Sometimes best to have 2 DSLRs to do this as the other one takes a while to process and you can miss some lighting shots.
