Sunday walk
Posted By: scott-devon, 11-04-2007, 01:53 PM

Took my camera for a short walk in the woods today...

Sure looked pretty entering...

The fence with fresh snow on it caught my eye too..

I know I'll be sick of snow in a few months but...

These little chickadees are around all winter, friendly little things.

And of course the squirrels stay active too.

I played with the exposure a bit and this one kind pleased me, reminded me of an infrared shot almost

All in all a pleasant couple of hours wandering.

Nice photos, Scott, the wildlife really adds an extra dimension. That last pic is almost high key (if a photo can be "almost" high key).

And that's early November... how much snow do you guys get there?

Thanks Steve, we don't get a lot of snow...at least compared to Eastern Canada but we do get some awful cold weather and a long winter season.

I love the whites.... they're spot on. But I'm glad you have the snow and not me!

Great series of shots.

Nice work Scott,

I really like the bird pic, plus I love the exposure with the last one.
To me it doesn't look like an infrared shot, just like a nice bright winter day.

We don't get anywhere near as much snow as you guys, plus most days are only just below freezing.
So I'm looking forward to seeing the white stuff.

WOW it is almost that time again. Great shots I love the way the snow paints the scene. Thanks for sharing them.

Nice pictures.....

I envy you the combination of blue sky & snow. These days, if we get snow at all in England/Wales, it is usually accompanied by grey/leaden skies..

Were the first two shots taken with 'Limited' lenses?

Looks crisp and bright. Did you have to overexpose to retain the whiteness? Or did the average-weighted exposure system handle the exposures?

Dave, all the shots were taken using my Pentax FA 80-320 zoom. It tends to stay on my camera most days.

JMR these were all shot in aperture priority mode except the last one. The exposure system handled the bright sunlight very nicely.

Now I'm confused (not that rare these days) , the exif info for the first two shots says 31mm & 43mm respectively.

Truly beautiful shots IMO. Love the shot of the squirrell
.Snow is something I only see in pictures round here. Must be nice for the keen photographers.
Living with it? I imagine must be a bit of a trial and the beauty fades after a while.

Dave...my sincerest apologies. I did have the kit lens on when I arrived and took those two shots and put the 80-320 on afterward. Only my eyesight is worse than my memory these days it seems....

Very nice photos Dave, I'm sooo sorry that I missed that snow :-) I was still in Ontario when it snowed back home.

Take care, Heinrich
