Alaska or Bust Part 2
Camera: K-7 ISO: 50
Posted By: slowpez, 05-25-2011, 06:35 PM

Well, we have managed to have some horrible rainy weather on this leg of our trip. Lots of wind, fog and storms. We are currently sitting in Buffalo, Wyoming waiting to see if I-90 to Billings will be open tomorrow. Evidently they had some troubles with flooding and the bridges.

Here goes. Some cats from Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. This one is much better than the Columbus zoo.

Custer SP, SD

The pride of South Dakota and the Black Hills. One of our favorite state parks. They have a huge herd of buffalo, lots of Pronghorns, and prairie dogs. We even had a herd of 16 buffalo right behind our RV one night. Ours is the white Hitchhiker fifth wheel.

Did I mention the begging burros who will do anything for a handout.

Last one from Custer SP

Finally one pic that made the awful weather worth it.

Again a reminder, we will not have WiFi very often but I will check in when we do. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Susan love the series, no matter how many times you visit the Custer area, it only gets better, great shot of the cats and the last one you posted is picture perfect. Buffalo is a nice little town, great steak house there. Bob

Susan, as always a set of wonderful images. I missed the first part but understand that you are on your way to Alaska. You will have a wonderful trip, the Alaska highway is now paved all the way (except for construction areas) We lived in Whitehorse, Yukon for 16 years and have driven the Alaska many times including last summer. Looking forward to many more photos.

Some really nice shots here and, I admit, I'm a bit jealous. Here's to better weather and thanks for taking us along.

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments. I can't tell you how excited we are about this trip. Now if only we can find a way to get from Billings to Great Falls. So much flooding, so much rain but it has been a worse spring for many other people.
We will try to keep you posted as we go along.
Again, thanks for looking.

Winchester's Steak House. Ate there. It was really one of the best steaks we have ever had.
