Nice picture R! With the worked one, I think you went just a little further than necessary with the blur of the skin there, and since the eyes was sharpened, it makes the overall effect a little unbalanced. Definitely on the correct path though

I like the second one best Rupert, still having a hard time to get my head around this iso 3200. Do you use in camera noise reduction?

Thanks guys.....Dottie is a fun girl to shoot. We will be doing a full day of shooting in a week or two.

Heinrich, there is no in or out of camera noise reduction on this first shot, and the second is a Portrait Pro version......who knows what PPro does with noise? For those not too picky you can go way up the scale with the K5 and still get decent results. If a person does some good processing, ISO 6400 looks pretty decent to me. For many shots, even higher will get you something you will still like....and many times any shot is better than none. I always wanted a shot of one of these Painted Buntings, but never could get one...they are rare around my house.....The day this one showed up it was raining off and on, low very dark cloudy skies, and I was looking out through the glass of my office windows.....I had the Bigma mounted so why not give it a try? Glad I did!

ISO 12, 800
