Pattaya, Thailand (Part I)

Thailand was the last stop for this southeast Asia trip. Other ports visited were in Indonesia, Malaysia and its islands, Singapore and Cambodia. This port was exciting and interesting in different ways. Coming off at Sattahip, there will little there to see or do, so onto Pattaya I proceeded on the first night.

The area had places of beauty and cleanliness, and others in town with the typical stench of stagnant sewerage and broken infrastructure. The first thing I noticed approaching Pattaya town centre were the hundreds of street wiring overhead, like black spaghetti running haphazardly from post to post. Such an issue made it hard for me to frame a shot right without having the wires ruin the look of the architectural scenes.

Walking street by night

Walking street was lively, with bright lights and skimpy-clad young women lining the streets while tourists and even young families with kids walk through. Nothing is sacred, and little is spared - even their tourist shirts speak volumes: "Good people go to heaven. Bad people go to Pattaya."

Come on in

Soi #8

Cocktail Combi

Everything you want in Pattaya is outdoors, and available everywhere. The night comes alive there, especially since the climate is warm and too humid during the day, and the attitude is: anything goes...

Motorbike again is the preferred mode of transport, and just like in Cambodia, chicks dig them.

Another interesting series, well photographed as usual. It reminds me of a combination of Tijuana Mexico, Las Vegas Nevada and New Orleans Louisiana. Looks like lots of fun with anything goes yet family oriented in certain areas. Certainly interesting Bob

You ain't seen nothing yet, Bob!
Pattaya has many similarities to Vegas (as I recall it), only it happens just as much during the day as at night; and it's on the beach!

Interesting place Ash. I agree with Bob and the similarities to Tijuana and Las Vegas. Not sure about New Orleans though - that town is a different kind of party town.

I especially liked soi#8 and I'm not sure, from the look on the food vendor's face, that I would buy anything from her. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks to you all.
I caught the food vendor at just the wrong time with that expression.
She was a nice lady.
