Sunset on Charleston Peak
Lens: 50-200mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Pahrump, Nevada
Posted By: Bob Harris, 06-03-2011, 09:03 PM

Photo is from our RV park in the Pahrump Valley looking up to Charleston Peak, elevation 11,800 foot. There is very little snow left now, but the mountain glows each evening as the sun sets.

Beautiful Bob. That is one lovely glow on those peaks.
Hope your weather is better than ours. We have had nothing but rain, cold and some snow since leaving SC in May. We are a day away from Dawson Creek and mile 0 of the Al-Can and the weather was gorgeous for the first time. There is still snow on the ground and some in the higher regions but we are hoping the worst is over for a bit.

This section of the mountain is just south of Charleston Peak and faces directly west. The section of mountain is about 5000 foot from floor to top and you can see the effect of erosion, which has removed about half of this mountain section. Photo taken right at sunset.
