a few with my new 70-200mm f2.8
Posted By: Tyler, 11-10-2007, 07:49 AM

Ticked over 5000 on my K100d yesterday. Shot 5000 was a dud though. I was hoping for it to be good!

k100d with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 at ISO3200 f2.8 1/320s (the lighting was horrendous and that was the best I could get out of it)

k100d with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 at ISO3200 f2.8 1/320s

k100d with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 at ISO3200 f2.8 1/160s

k100d with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 at ISO3200 f2.8 1/60s- After the win.

k100d with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 at ISO3200 f2.8 1/60s- After the loss

Unfortuantely, my school (the Wolverines, white) lost 41-39. It was a first round playoff game. We were lucky to make it even this far.

I have the same lens that I use on a K10D. Looks like you did real good with the lens.
Your shots on my moniter look real clean for that high of an ISO. Nice actions shots too.
You will really enjoy that lens.

I think you have a great series there. I would not have been at all disappointed with it. #2 is a great shot.

These are very nice and clean images Tyler, # 2 is especially nice given the relative slow (1/250) shutterspeed. What did you use for noise reduction?

Very nice Tyler, although I had to laugh at a few of their faces.
Especially the top photo To me it looks like the tackler is wearing a halloween mask.

For the most part I'd say that they're magazine quality.

Simply amazing photographs. Much better than my Fa* 80-200 f2.8 there

2nd shot is my favorite!

Great pics Tyler, I'm struggling to achieve that kind of quality while shooting football(soccer).
Would you mind to disclose your technics ?
What brand is that lens ? Thank you.

better than the FA*?? serious? I always regarded the FA* 80-200 as one of the best and sharpest tele zooms out there, way above the sigma but maybe im wrong.

Andy, I shoot in AV mode at f2.8, ISO3200, AF-C, Multi Segment Metering. Noise Nijna is used to clean up the images a bit in PP but other than that, just simple levels adjustments are needed. The lens is a Sigma.

Very good series. Like the others, I like 2 the best but all are very good shots. You've demonstrated the 'secret' to high ISO shots. Slightly over-expose the shot (+1/3 Ev) and the results are very good with very little noise.

Oh man, my lens envy is palpable at this moment! Great shots indeed. I would say my favourite is actually the first one given its framing makes me feel as though I am on the field myself seeing the tackle being completed. Were it my image, however, I would likely crop tighter off the right to eliminate those two players that don't factor into the photo's overall equation.

Which exact model do you have and what are your overall impressions to this point?

Wonderful shots! I'm not a sports fan but these are great, super colour and very nice action shots. Especially the 2nd one.
