Playing with my food

Interesting effect. Not my cup of tea, but I do like the gentle, complementary red tones in the image.

i like this composition.. pleasing still life.... not a fan of cherries (the wife loves'em)...

Here's another one that I played with. I'm putting together a photo book of the food I'm eating for 2011 (I did a photo book in 2009 called "What I Ate" - this year, I'm calling it "3 Squares"). Every other page, I feature a full page photo and on those pages, I sometimes "play" with the post processing to get a different look to the photo. This one is of fresh fava beans.

I'm new to this so take my comments with a grain of salt. In #1 I think the colors are great but the cherries look very two dimential. There does not seem to be any depth to the bowl. I think #2 looks great. The shadows bring out the depth.

I see what you mean. I definitely meant them both to not look like the real thing - I was going more toward the look of a painting than reality. Actually, to me, the cherries seem to have the look of a Poster while the fava beans have more of a feel of a painting. Thanks for commenting!
