I have been smiling a lot after buying this SMC Pentax FA 100-300f4.7-5.8 Silver lens. After reading rave reviews and compelling pics out of it, I was ready to buy this lens by hook or crook.

So I paid more for it, but I am happy I didnít miss it.
I am very happy that now I am getting those eye popping colors straight in jpeg, after a year of struggle with Sigma 70-300mm DG Macro. Please have a look .

Cheers
Guna

Good start with these images.
Very colourful (some perhaps overly so) and lots of contrast.
Most are quite soft, but then your lens does have some limitation in this regard.

Some pics are soft but rest are really sharp. After uploading as attachments they became soft. Still I should explore this lens. Thanks.

or in fact the 55-300 (or even Tamron 70-300 with the benefit of being very cheap and having a great 1:2 macro) would do an excellent job without spending too much (better than the 300/4 - I have both - which is also very heavy, more so than my DA*300 I think) !

Really lovely birds, as others have said no so sharp and IMO overly saturated colours blurs the detail too. But no doubt a good start - keep it going and post some more !
