Forest Girl Photoshoot
Posted By: Kemal, 11-11-2007, 05:25 PM

I took these with the 18-55 kit lens and the fa 50 mm with my K10D. Tell me what you think, the rest of the set is here: www.kemal.ca - Forest if you feel like commenting or rating.

Kemal, all in all you have fine shots but with a little PP they could become even finer :-)

I spent a few minutes with this one. cropped, lightend the eyes a bit, cloned out a few things and softened it with a little USM.

It is hard to work with a small file like this but if you do far better with the original.

Heinrich

I really like what Heinrich has done with this post processing. I would crop off the bottom "wrinkle" in her shirt since it serves to distract. This is really quite a fine portrait now that some work has been done to it. And to think... it all came from a lowly kit lens. Good work.

I think the USM looks cool, but I'm always weary of processing too much. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I just haven't used it alot. Pretty interesting. But I did like the background and the softness for that portait, I have this photo that probably is closer to the edit posted by Heinrich from here: www.kemal.ca - Forest

You're right; over processing is a bigger sin than no processing at all. However, most photos can benefit from the bare bones basics of:

1. Contrast adjustment
2. Levels and/or curves adjustment
3. Some degree of sharpening.

Actually, Heinrich, what were the steps you used to usm? Just punch it through Photoshop?

I liked the first and the last. Nice B&W on the first and she smiled in the last one.
