Northern Italy
Posted By: Slick, 11-13-2007, 06:58 PM

I just wanted to share a few pictures I took in Northern Italy over the last couple of weeks. I was there on vacation staying with friends in a small village named Brusnengo near Milan. It's a beautiful place and I had a chance to see a lot of the area.

C&C welcome.

Enjoy....

On the photo with the cat, try cropping just at dark sill. I really like that photo.

Great suggestion! That really works well. All great photos but nos. 1 and 2 grabbed me. Good texture and pastel colours in 2, and 1 is eerie enough it could be from an Indiana Jones movie.

Che bella Italia, and you make it even more beautiful.

They're really all great shots with the exception of the last one - I think you got there maybe 10-20 seconds too late.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

I tried a crop as you suggested JMR. I don't do much cropping although I guess I should start looking for images where it might help. Let me know what you think. A little out of focus unfortunately.

On the sunset, I have several but included that one because I liked the pattern of the sun rays from the aperture setting. Maybe this one is better. Taken probably no more than 30 seconds before.

They probably need a little more processing as well. I haven't had a chance to get through them all yet, 1600 pictures is a lot.

Italy- cat

Not what I had in mind. I want to make it clear that I think your cat image is good on its own. One has to work with they have. I try to do all my cropping in the viewfinder and keep post processing and cropping to minimum. If you keeep the fine work and crop in the viewfinder, you will learn visual discipline and it will become second nature.

This is what I had in mind.

I would have to agree with that, it's the way I learnt. I find too many are becoming dependable on the software to do the darkroom work. In the same way, I'm also becoming more dependant on the auto focus. Didn't mean to hijack - will start another thread on the subject.

Now I Understand...

Aaaaah. I understand what you meant now JMR. I'm not a big fan of post processing either although I do some now and again. I have a friend that process his images way too much. We're always having friendly arguments about the subject. That's also why I never really looked in to cropping images before which explains my earlier comment. I'm currently working on photo composition so that's something I need to keep in mind.

Thanks everyone.
