San Francisco Skyline *PANO*
Lens: Tamron 70-200/2.8 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: San Francisco, CA ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: >6s Aperture: F5.6
Posted By: mikeSF, 06-27-2011, 09:05 PM

Here is a ~20-30 frame pano using the Tamron 70-200/2.8 at 115mm. Who knew this lens could do panos?

8sec exposure at ISO250. It was quite windy so i set up low with a 4 legged tripod and waited for the wind to slow before snapping each exposure. I ended up shooting 3-4 of each frame in order to get a sharp one. Plenty of PP applied here. I hope you like it.

Another absolutely fantastic bridge photo and a superb pano! You own that bridge I hope to get there next year, if I do I'll have to bribe or beg you to give away your best bridge shooting locations...

Mike, what a beautiful image. Takes a lot of patience and timing to pull a great shot off like this one. JIMBO

thanks. I am using Hugin, which was free and does a fine job. I have never tried anything else, so i don't know how it might compare to other software options.

thanks twitch. I keep working at these San Francisco scenes...i grew up in Texas where there wasn't much scenery at all, so living here is a real treat and I must never take these views for granted.
When you come, please drop me a line and I'll take you around, no doubt. I will say that some of the best shooting locations are off limits and I have yet to trespass or risk life and limb to get the shot...yet.

Mike, I always enjoy your SF images and this one is no exception! A beautiful panorama, indeed. I imagine your spouse must get awfully lonely with you out capturing enviable images from the outskirts of the city every other evening

thank you.
well, when i can take one of the kids out with me, she appreciates some quiet time at home, so it is a win-win. Most of my weekend shooting trips are pre-dawn, so waking an 8 year old on saturday morning to stand in the dark with me is the challenge.
