Test Shots New Tamron 18-250mm Di II
Posted By: maxamillion, 11-17-2007, 12:28 PM

These are some test shots I took using the lens with my K10D.

They were shot on Thursday afternoon, Light grey cloudy sky with patches of blue and Sun.

All shots handheld RAW. Slightly modified in Aperture. Man and dog changed to Antique.

This lens has really impressed me. Tamron appear to have done a great job.

All comments appreciated.

RG.

DistortedVision.

Thanks, no worries. I should have got a tighter shot.

It's not bad in all three. B&W, Sepia and Antique.

Just thought it made a change from the normal B&W or Sepia.

My next purchase is going to be DxO Film Pack.

I really can't believe how good this lens is.

Cheers. RG.

Nice shots, that lens seems to do well with the colors, very vibrant.

BJ.

Thanks.

I didn't take the shots for any artistic value, just to see how the lens performed at different lengths and settings. That's why I shot the signs to see how the detail and color came out.

Also tried some very boring shots inside our fire house with flash. Did pretty good. Intend to use it tomorrow at an event in the same building. We shall see what happens.

Many photographers kind of thumb their noses at this type of lens. They sure are missing out on the all around design and convenience of this model Tamron tied in with the advantages of the DSLR.

I have used lots of different zooms over the years, this one for the price beats all of them.

Cheers, RG.

Looks like a keeper! I would like to see any shots you have taken at 18mm. These seem very clear with little distortion, but I think the widest here is shown as 50mm.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice , I have the lens and for an all purpose walk about lens I don't know if you can find a better one. At 250mm I find it a little hard to hold steady but looks like you got a good one there. I love the second shot.

J Scott.

I posted a couple more. The first 23.13 mm, the second at 26.88mm. Sorry I didn't think about going any wider when composing the shot. Soon as the weather breaks here I intend to take more shots.

Going to do inside shoot this PM, so it will be a good test to try this lens. No way around using high ISO's and flash. This should really push it to the limits. Of course I will use other lenses as well.

Thanks to all for the comments.

RG.

I just looked through these again. Really nice color and contrast with that lens. You have some nice shots there for just "test shots".

I'm really curious as to where in Oregon these were taken. I used to live in Corvallis.

Scott,

Thanks.

Taken in Scio and Stayton and between those two places. I often cruise around the area.

I didn't take much time with any of the shots, just clicked away. Real happy with the results.

Cheers, Roy.

Thanks Roy! Those small town shots just looked familiar. Now I know why -- I'm sure I've been through there on the way to Silver Falls many years ago. Sure is beautiful country!

Cheers,
Scott

Scott,

Yes, you can go to Silver Falls on the Cascade Hwy. If you were coming the country way from Corvalllis you would have gone through Lebanon, Scio, then Stayton and Sublimity.

Roy.
