First day with FA77!
Lens: FA 77mm f1.8 Limited Camera: Pentax K-5

So yesterday, my FA77 arrived. And since then, it's pretty much only been off my camera so that I can better feel it up Anyways, as it turned out, yesterday was also Canada Day. So I didn't just get the boring first-day-of-lens-owning shots, I got some shots of the parade and subsequent fireworks! : D All but the very last one were shot with the FA77. I foresee a long, happy future with this lens.


1. About 5 minutes after opening the box. Couldn't stop shooting, even while filling up!

3. Got home. Still couldn't put the lens (camera) down...

6. Then went to the Canada Day parade... What a difference in atmosphere from the Canucks game, just a few weeks ago!

And, finally, the FA43 made an appearance as well:





Bitingly sharp when it's in focus, FA-limited-esque-creaminess when it's not, great separation and dimensionality...I love this lens.

Thank you mike, appreciate it! (: I know how you feel, I couldn't get out today for any serious shots but just playing around with it at home, it's like I just got it out of the box. Though for me that wasn't all too long ago...

A gas pump?

Your first shot with the FA 77 is a gas pump?!?!?!

You're banging the contrast up a lot in PP, are you? The shots are nice but the blacks fall off a cliff.

And that's what I love about the First shoot with a lens! you take shots you might not normally take and often get some great one's. I love the 2nd one of the guy fillign up!!

And by the way I take pics of petrol pumps all the time. part of my archive of life series. And it's great to look back and reminisce about how petrol was affordable

Well, actually, my first shot was a test chart to make sure it was focussing alright but that's probably within my first 10, yeah ;D. Yeah I tend to crank up the contrast and blacks, probably not the greatest thing to do all the time but I looooove the look I get from that in B&Ws.

Agreed, Smeggy. Once you get in a comfort zone, well, it's all good, but it's harder to go out of the box, into uncharted (compositional/subject) territory... That sounds pretty interesting, got a link? O:
