Posted By: Marc Langille, 07-04-2011, 02:08 PM

I took this series of images over 3 seconds:

Camera PENTAX Corporation PENTAX K10D
Exposure Time 0.002s (1/500)
Aperture f/6.3
ISO 400
Focal Length 600mm (900mm in 35mm)
Photo Dimensions 3113 x 2073

Camera PENTAX Corporation PENTAX K10D
Exposure Time 0.002s (1/500)
Aperture f/6.3
ISO 400
Focal Length 600mm (900mm in 35mm)
Photo Dimensions 3109 x 2073

Camera PENTAX Corporation PENTAX K10D
Exposure Time 0.002s (1/500)
Aperture f/6.3
ISO 400
Focal Length 600mm (900mm in 35mm)
Photo Dimensions 3104 x 2071

Crop:

You can also some small pieces of dander flying off - look just to the right of it's bill. I was surprised to see such small objects in the shots, considering I'm about 15-18 feet away.

I hope you enjoy this series!

Cheers,
Marc

Marc,
These are very nice images. Like the 3rd one the best. Makes me envious of your shots of hummingbirds. I can't seem to get any to come to my feeders or my wifes flower garden. BTW how are you likeing this summer heat? we've had 18 days so far at 100 or above. Sure makes this old man lazy. LOL.
The heat is pretty stout right now. I manage to stand out there and persevere, which is a good thing!

How goes things Ken? Hope you are doing well.

Regards,
Marc

Marc, you've outdone yourself - amazing.

Jer
Thank you both very much - I have more in the wings (no pun).

Jer: I have added a crop of one of the images to the OP just so you can really see the details! In addition, I think I've finally caught the magical moment I've wanted for quite some time , but doubt it will ever happen again. Just trying to figure out if it's going to on it's on or part of a series. Stay tuned!

Regards,
Marc

Guna
Thank you Guna and I would recommend you let me stand out in the nasty heat and get the shots - more comfortable for you and cheaper!

Stunning photos .. as usual.

*sigh* *goes off to dream of a 250-600 and hummers*
Hi Frogfish,

I really appreciate the kind words and I promise to go beyond what I've captured in the past.

As I mentioned in my previous post to Jer, it's the magic, the essence of photography and what I strive for and share the beauty with others. I know some people think nature photography is boring, but I'm amazed by it's complexity, time and time again.

Regards,
Marc
