I can't decide which one I like best.....please offer your pick!!

I like the second shot because it has more context and better exposure. Note that the colours appear on derrick in hte second shot but black out in the first. Why not reshoot it at sunrise or sunset with some sidelight or colour?

It really depends upon what I want.

If I want a poster, or a photo for a magazine I'd want the top picture.

If I want a picture for my desktop, or a calender picture I'd want the second pic.

In my opinion when you capture a picture like that one your smart to take 2, 1 horizontal and 1 vertical. Just in case you do get the chance to sell one.
So you did the right thing

#2 seems to have better balance and emphasizes the expanse. #1 is in the nether region between too close and too far, I think.

For some reason I can't see either picture. This is the first time that has occurred. Wonder why?
