Menhirs, Filitosa
Camera: K-5 / Yashica-D Photo Location: Filitosa, Corsica, Fr
Posted By: Rense, 07-16-2011, 01:46 AM

During our holidays in Corsica, we visited Filitosa, the main prehistoric site on the
island. It's famous because of its humanoid menhirs, dating back to 3,500 BC....
Although the first few could give the impression these menhirs are small, the
standing ones under the trees are all between 1.60 and 2.00 metres at least....

All made with the K-5, except for the last one, which was made with the Yashica-D.

Fascinating - I'm always impressed by the mystery that surrounds such old artifacts.

Interesting shots. I had to google the word menhirs to find the meaning. Unknown ancient culters and people fasinate me. Some believe there were giants inhabiting the planet before the biblical flood. Its all speculation of course but to be able to move some of these massive stones, thats what it would take it seems, or aliens

#4 is my favorite.

Like them all but the second to last really stands out. JIM
