The Black Hills are located in the SW corner of South Dakota. The area gets its name from the trees, which appear dark or black from a distance. It has the highest peak east of the Rockies.

I've already posted Deadwood separately, which is located in the Hills.

Custer, named after Gen George Armstrong Custer, a veteran of the battle at Gettysburg during the Civil War, and who died at the battle of Little Bighorn 1876.

Here is Rockerville, on the way from Rapid City to Mt Rushmore. It is situated between the northbound and southbound lanes of the highway.
