Sunflower Fields Forever
Lens: mixed Camera: Pentax K-5 Photo Location: McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area
Posted By: MRRiley, 07-18-2011, 05:30 PM

Shot at McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area near Poolesville, MD.

1

Tammy 28-75mm, 1/60sec, f10, ISO 1250

2

Pentax DA* 60-250mm, 1/200sec, f7.1, ISO 125

The MD Dept of Conservation plants these fields every year to provide food and cover for various wildlife species ans well as to provide hunting grounds for quail and doves.

This is just a couple of the shots I took this morning but wanted to get these up for the NCAP folks mainly. The flowers should be at their peak for about another week so if you can get out there one morning it's well worth getting up early.

Mike

p.s first time playing with the TAV mode of the K-5... I like it!!!

excellent photography from you as always, I like the TAV mode, the camera is certainly smarter than I figuring the best ISO, thanks Bob

Thanks guys...

And yeah Bob... TAV is nice... being able to set both shutter speed and aperture and let the ISO fall where it needs to provides a lot of control... And the great ISO range of the K-5 lets you get away with it.

Sunflowers are cool - beautiful but with a "alien" feel. Nice shots, Mike.

Thanks Jer... I know what you mean about the "alien" thing. They always make me remember the scene in Star Trek where Spock got sprayed with "happy seeds" by some weird alien flower.
