Field of Dreams
Lens: 18-55 Kit Lens Camera: K-x Photo Location: Portland, OR
Posted By: nate_b, 07-24-2011, 12:15 AM

Going through my photos, I rediscovered this image taken shortly after purchasing my K-x (first DSLR) a year and a half ago. I was driving to my in-laws' house when I noticed the sun breaking through the fog at a city park. I happened to have my new camera in the passenger seat, so I pulled over and grabbed it - running up the hill to try and capture the scene before the visual drama disappeared. I was only able to capture three frames before the sun broke through completely and the moment passed. Here's one of them, converted to B&W to enhance the interplay of light and shadow...

Thanks, Bob. Definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good!

Best,
Nate

You've captured those sunbeams just at the right moment. Good choice for B&W.

Nice capture with the kit lens .... yet another proof that in skilled hands kit lens is not slouch either.
I like the way tree trunks interfere with the direction of light rays...
Well done...

Thank you, Remco. I have a color version, too, and it doesn't deliver the visual impact of the B&W.
