Red-bellied at 1/20th
Posted By: Tom Lusk, 11-22-2007, 02:28 PM

A miserable dark day here - first snow/freezing rain of the season. This red-bellied woodpecker showed up as it's getting dark (very uncommon/ rare in this region - the woodpecker, that is. It gets dark quite often). I took this shot at 1/20th sec. The other 50 or so didn't turn out as well.

Should I clone out the OOF icicles? Other suggestions?

Wow Tom - I think the dull day made the colours stick out even more.
Nice shot and probably publishable because of the rarity.

Tom,

In my opinion, the icicles absolutely should remain. They tell part of the story, part of the grayness, and a little of the struggles of life in the wild. I also think they add a counterbalance to the entire image.

Keep em'.

Great capture, Tom. I also like the way Chris' clone patch tool adds to the image.
