Otis Prepares for War
Lens: Tamron 18-250 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Texas
Posted By: Rupert, 07-30-2011, 10:06 PM

I took a few hits over at one of the Forums from some K5 haters......and although not serious, Otis thought it warranted calling out his troops for some training exercises. I was fortunate enough to sneak a few shots as he got out front and led his Million Squirrel Army in some rigid training maneuvers. If I had been caught snapping these never before seen images, I doubt I would be here posting......you do recall what Squirrels did to that poor Doggie in Russia......? I still have flashbacks of those images and that awful story of those savage Squirrels.

Gentlemen, come to attention and prepare for combat!
[IMG] [/IMG]

Everyone get down and give me 20 fast push ups.....
[IMG] [/IMG]

Uhhh...maybe one will be enough......
[IMG] [/IMG]

Is my belly dragging?
[IMG] [/IMG]

Incoming! Get down you fools!
[IMG] [/IMG]

Better make a run for those foxholes...
[IMG] [/IMG]

Stay low and crawl for it...
[IMG] [/IMG]

Faster boys, we are under attack!
[IMG] [/IMG]

All clear, now lets go get those bad guys!
[IMG] [/IMG]

Life is such fun when you have a ton of Squirrels around!
Best Regards!
I was about to leave with Mrs Rupert to go out to dinner, when I saw this going on outside the picture window of her work area, and just turned on the K5 in Tav and started snapping. Every shot turned out usable and some are up in some higher ISO ranges in order to maintain 1/125 speed, but they all look pretty near the same in IQ to me. (Tammy 18-250 used) Fast AF and the ability to maintain speed....two key ingredients for my Squirrel shooting adventures!

Rupert, not sure if chipmunks serve in Otis' Army, but they were all acting very nervous today, I wonder if they might have gotten the call to duty or at least might be on standby. Bob

Bob, it could well be.....I saw Squirrels all over the grapevines, so it is safe to assume they were getting out the word?
Your little fellow does look nervous, but after a little combat, he will be battle hardened and a better Squirrel....errr, Chipmunk...for the experience .
Regards!

Could be.....or could be he heard that the entire world has gone nuts? Nuts seem to be the norm nowadays.....no wonder we have so many fat Squirrels!

I think I ran into Otis' great, great grampa when I spent a fun-filled summer at Fort Bragg in 1969.

Good series Rupert love the commentary - Otis sounds like another famous leader ...
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France,
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender

Great shots of Otis in training. Strangely enough comedian Tim Bedore has a bit about the animal conspiracy, I think the squirrels were into spying on people. Well done Rupert!

Thank you guys, it was just fun! Otis is a fun Squirrel, even when he is deadly serious.

Just a note ......I am here to have fun, post a few shots I like, and view the photos of others and see what they do and what they enjoy......

You are ALWAYS welcome to post your photos in my threads, and if it happens to be a Handsome Squirrel, as someone posted here, all the better!

Best Regards!

Otis's Canadian Cousin

Here is his Canuck cousin climbing out of his forward observation bunker.

The photo isn't too good due to low light, need for speed and shooting through the kitchen window. After all, I don't want these squirrels to set the military police on me for photographing them!!

The cousin from Florida checking in

Otis's Floridian cousin Klover is taking cover while waiting for the backup!
