Same Cardinal - different pose
Posted By: sumrall, 11-24-2007, 06:39 AM

Exif data included. What I thought interesting...look at her eyeball. If you know what you are looking for, you might think, as I,
that you are seeing the reflection of my window, which is covered with newspaper, and the cutout hole in the paper for the camera lens.

I have read in some forum where the Tamron 70-300 lens isn't good for birding. I could ask for no better! There is no PP sharpening,
but camera is set on "Hard".

Me neither - and I have that lens.

My usual question: How far between you and the bird.

An absolutely magnificent shot - a magnificent WELL DONE.

Well I think you just convinced me Bill. I was looking to pair that lens up with my Tamron 28-75mm but started to have doubts if I really needed it. Well need was just thrown right out the window, now I just flat out want it.

The bird is close - maybe 8 to 10 feet. The zoom was only at 160mm out of the 300mm, so he was close. I've found from my S2 & S3 days, that lighting makes all the difference. If you happen to get the sun at the optimum angle to show definition of the feathers, well and good.

Great shot! Interesting how your setup is reflected in the eyeball!

Thanks. I believe what happened - nothing planned, of course, is that the sun reflected off our white vinyl siding which provided the reflective lighting...???

Great shot, Bill. The sharpness iss extraordinary. I own that lens as well, and must say, for the very affordable price it is, indeed, a very recommendable purchase.
Very well done!
