Just a few backyard birds. Quite a variety of birds have shown up in my yard over the last year or so.

what a wonderful variety of birds, and they are right in your yard. I would love to see them in the wild like this, all I have seen lately are dove and a couple of crows. Great shots and thanks for posting. Bob

Wondeful variety to have in backyard rawr, took great advantage of it too.
Rainbow is staggering in color.Amazing what little it takes to draw life like
that in.Some water, few plants that support symbiotic relationship so essential,
and your off and running....for the camera.

Very much agree with you about the symbiotic relationship, and how little it takes to draw birdlife into the yard.

The birds here are just a small sample of what I have counted in the yard - so far about 30 bird types, from falcons to quails to satin bowerbirds, have become more or less regular visitors. My goal is to photograph them all. So far I have about 20 of them captured.

I've put in well over 50 different grevilleas and bottlebrushes, as well as several dozen other flowering native plants and trees. It really has paid off in terms of attracting birds. Not having a cat or dog also helps a lot.

It's quite a luxury to be able to shoot guys like this from less than 2 metres away from the front verandah:
