Aurora Borealis
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm Camera: K20D Photo Location: Northern Manitoba ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: >6s Aperture: F4

Last night I witnessed one of the most amazing displays of Northern Lights I have seen yet. I was outside for about 2 hours snapping pictures and fighting off mosquitoes. No matter how many times I see the lights I am still amazed every single time.

Thanks Charlie. I am kind of a space nerd and love everything that is space. My wife and I are going to Orlando is January and I cannot wait to go to the Kennedy Space Center. I'll be like a 41 year old kid in a candy store!

Fabulous Paul. Really took advantage of opp.
1987 was last chance here. 300 miles north last night was very tempting.

Wow! I wish I could see this just once! It would be worth a ton of aeroguard.

The one time we get to see the Earth's magnetic field lit up and visible. We should appreciate it more - it's one of the reasons life exists on this planet!

Go south - Aurora Australis is visible from Tasmania - places like Howden and Blackmans Bay... 2012 should be a good year with a storm due (with the 11 year cycle). They are most likely visible around the months of the Equinoxes..

Wow. Very beautiful.
Likewise, would like to see this myself, let alone take the opportunity to photograph.
Nicely done.

Paul, thank you for these images they are wonderful. Brought back memories from our Yukon years but while you were fighting mosquitoes we would be fighting the -40ºC cold.
