Hi there again, Pentaxians
Thursday I went straight from having put the kids to bed, to a location not many kilometres from home (Andenes) to photograph a Sperm Whale that had just drifted to shore.
There`s an eldorado of whales of many kinds right outside our island, because of some archeological co-indincidence that causes the depth of the sea to drop from around hundred, to around 3500 meters.
Note; only male Sperm Whales comes to the arctic areas.
The females are better off in warmer areas :

From time to time, unfortunately whales die in this area of unknown reasons. Sometimes just natural due to age or illness. There are many scientists here, that have base at the local tourist attraction:
Velkommen til Hvalsafari
They now have an international project to collect tissues from the whales to analyze for environmental, marine pollutants.
Anyway, here are some of my results after seeing this giant of a mammal.
Around 14meters long and approx. 30-35 years of age.
It had been dead for around 4 days when it drifted to shore. All of this info is from the whale experts.

(in the right side on this picture you see something floating on the side of the whale... Well that`s a body part "a bit" bigger than humans have when WE reproduce
