Green Grocer
Posted By: Bramela, 11-25-2007, 10:53 PM

A picture I caught of a Cicada 'Green Grocer'. He tucked in a very awkward corner next to the house and I didnt have much flexibilty in distance. I would love to get a good photo of a Cicada 'Black Prince' (black and red) but dont see that many.

That turned out great! It's been quite a few years since I've seen one of those. A strange looking creature for sure.

Boy have the cicadas been loud this year ... feeding the horses down in the paddock ... I have to wear earmuffs I use when i mow ... if i don't ... my hearing is shot.

Kinda like being in a nightclub for 6 or so hours ... it's awful.

Great shot Bruce, now I dont know what to get next, that lens or a new tripod. Is that lens easy to handle sans tripod?

Thanks for all the positive comments. They are a very intersting creature. They stay under ground until the hot summer months then emerge and climb up into the trees.
As stated in earlier post, the noise of them around Christmas/January (our mid summer) can be absolutely deafening, in the late afternoon evening.

No problems Buddha, I find I can hand hold this lens without any problem. 125th and faster perhaps recommended however. A nice lens, Has a little bit of purple fringing problem in very bright light, but I haven't had too many problems with that.

Thanks again all!
