Nubble Lighthouse Night & Day York Maine
Lens: assorted Camera: K5 Photo Location: York Maine ISO: 100
Posted By: vievetrick, 08-08-2011, 07:57 PM

A trip up to York Maine last week was really fun. I was excited to get some pictures of the New England famous Nubble Lighthouse Welcome to Nubble Light also known as Cape Neddick Light Station! So in checking out the website I was even more excited to see they would be lighting the landmark with Christmas lights.turns out only twice a year they do this and lucky me I would be there when it is warm

So one evening I snuck away for a while with the K5 and the tripod. Here are a few of my favorites.

Exposure Time 129 sec - F13 Exposure Program Manual control ISO 100 shot with 77LTD on K5

Exposure Time 74 sec - F13 Exposure Program Manual control ISO 100 16-45 & K5

Exposure Time 95 sec - F13 Exposure Program Manual control ISO 100 16-45 & K5

For those that want to see it during the day here are a couple more.

The first is from Long Sands Beach in York where we stayed. I am not sure the distance but this is with Sigma 70-200 and cropped. I tweaked it with LightRoom and like the look. Not sure if everyone will or not.

This from around same location as the nights. Crappy weather day but I still wanted a few daylight shots.

All touched up a little in LR but not much .

Comments welcomed.

Those night shots are pretty cool Pat - glad you could get out and take a few snaps while away. Looks like a great place.

reaaly great!!

Your pic's are just perfect!!!, I have tried the long exposure, but my pic's don't even come close!!! what lense did you use? I have been trying out my 55mm 1.4 lens with a 30 sec shutter release, and it was totally over exposed. any advice on what I can do?

Thanks Sailor & Dave it was a fun trip.

Melanie - first THANK YOU VERY MUCH I used the 77mm Limited for closer shots and the 16-45 for the wider ones. I did a little playing in bulb mode for most of the shots. It only took a little tweak in LightRoom to get what you see. what are you using for setting besides the 30sec shutter release? What are you shooting maybe that is to long for the amount of light on the subject. maybe post an example in a thread and someone could help.

thanks again.

Love the night shots as well. They show just enough of the building's contours but not too much.
