GBH + wood duck
Lens: DA* 200mm f/2.8 ED [IF] SDM Camera: K10D Photo Location: Duke Gardens, Durham NC USA ISO: 100 Aperture: F4
Posted By: baro-nite, 08-14-2011, 09:38 AM

I wasn't really thinking of wildlife photography when I bought the DA* 200, but now that I have it I can't resist trying. (So maybe I should have sprung for the 300 instead ) Shot this morning at Duke Gardens, Durham NC, USA.

Both shots f/4, ISO 100.

Great blue heron; testing my reach with a 100% crop.

GBH & Wood duck, redux

Back to Duke Gardens a week later. Went early enough to catch the GBH by the lake. It's pretty well acclimated to people so will let you get close; no cropping needed this time:

And a different male wood duck, this one well in transition to breeding plumage (and behaving a bit more aggressively toward the other ducks):

Wish I had put the polarizer on to cut the glare on the duck's bill. Although I like the mild glare off the rock and water.
