Smoky Skyline

I finally finally finally picked up a K-5 a few days ago, and I must say, I'm quite thrilled with it so far. However, I had a busy weekend (my birthday was on Friday), so I wasn't able to use it much. That night, though, we had some smoke blow into the city from a massive wildfire in the Great Dismal Swamp of southeastern Virginia/northeastern North Carolina, making for a very hazy scene (also quite difficult to breathe at times). Since I had the K-5 handy, I decided to christen it by shooting the skyline through the haze. This is definitely not my best work, but I'm still very impressed given that I was fumbling in the dark trying to figure out where various options were!

Congrats on the new toy. You will certainly enjoy it and are welcome to both the k-5 praise and complainers threads.
As far as the smoke, I live about 30 miles NE of the 6,000 acre peat fire and sometimes the sun sets when its still 20 degrees above the horizen. Layer of smoke becomes the horizen. You made me realize I need to get some shots.

You've still have some time, you probably know as well as I do that that fire's still burning down there, if there's a wind shift you might get some more smoke headed your way. The sunsets have been crazy here when we've had smoke (though I don't have any shots of them).
