Well, I shot my 4-piece jazz band with a DA* 55 on my K-5, and while resulting images were quite sharp when focus was acquired, I found that the room size was a bit too small to permit a group shot with all 4 members in one image, due to their "spread out" configuration on stage. So, I'm thinking that the FA 43mm f/1.9 lens would have served me better in that venue. Anyone shoot in a very low-light club with the 43? Thanks!
Both FA43 and DA55 give very good picture even in low light. And both are too 'long' for indoor photography, clubs, parties etc I think. You need something wider than 35mm to use it at 1-2m distance, something in 14-28mm range. Also the the lens speed is not very important when you're using flash. Thus the fast lens gives you thinner DOF and it's good for portraits.
