Red-shouldered Hawk - Juvenile
Lens: 70-300 Tamron Camera: K200D Photo Location: Back Yard ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F5.6

Juvenile (1st year) Red-shouldered Hawk. Perched in tree in back yard overlooking small pond hunting frogs, crawdads, snakes - not other birds.

Live on 4 acres in the country in north Texas - about 20 miles from the Red River & Oklahoma, 60 miles north of Dallas.

That's what I have living in my backyard! Heres a thread I posted a while ago about the juvie I had. A bird keeper identified it for me.

Great shot!. I watched mine swoop down to the pool and grab a frog or something.
Later had a Cooper's Hawk, I believe it was, and he swooped down and got a Cowbird for lunch....
