K10d Photos.

One year and one week ago, the Pentax K10d became available in retail stores coast to coast in the USA. Beth got the first one in our area, I got the next two--greedy sucker, huh!?!

I had my first battery charged just shortly after dark and had occasion to drive through the University of NM campus. These are my first three shots with the then new K10d. It's the lovely new business college building in the Anderson School of Management. Shot through the window of our car/van, probably full auto everything.

Exciting still, to recall that day.

Show me your firsts, please.

That was such an exciting day; we both squealed when the local shop called the house to let us know the cameras were in.

And then I had to go to class, and you got to play. Not fair!

The dog knew how to blink, even then.

Some of my first shots

Funny that you should bring up this topic, just as I am reviewing my images. As it turns out, when I got the camera, I desparately wanted to try it before I went up to Muskoka to see the autumn foliage, in case something was wrong. My car broke down, so I took the camera just outside my door and took some photos of my front yard and steps. These are the photos.

Then I went for a walk to pick up the car at the dealers and took more photos, but I will leave those images for another time.

I got so confused about which images were the orignals and ended up deleting the originals! Now all I have are these smaller email versions. But they are not bad.

I had just received the camera, the weather broke briefly and I hopped into the car to drove over to the Astoria bridge. I was in such a hurry that I didn't really take time to compose the shot properly (as you can no doubt see). However, such as it is... I believe this is my first shot.

My very first #1 photo from the k10d. A shot standing on the edge of the canyon in my backyard:

Then I went to the San Diego River and got this shot:

Both taken in P mode, jpeg, everything default set from the factory. I bought the k10d on the first day it was available in California 11-18-2006. I've enjoyed it ever since.

Thanks for reminding us of that exciting time. The oldest photo I have is #0012. The 43mm LTD was as fascinating as the camera. This was taken at f1.9 1/20sec. and ISO 400. To be able to hand hold in such dim light was just amazing to me.

This is the oldest i could find...i remember the first shot was of some sunset lit trees through my bedroom window and i was reeling at the colour repro as this was my first ever dslr. This ones not too far off though and its also the only "old" photo thats survived the editing room lol. Camera brought in late Jan 07, shot taken 1st of Feb with the kit lens although exif was set to 2006??. It truly was an exciting time...and now that im reminded of it....i want to go take some more pictures!! Woohooo.
