a Couple of Birds
Photo Location: San Bernardino Mountains, CA
Posted By: Bob Harris, 08-19-2011, 06:00 PM

Here are a couple of birds I took photos of while we were camping in the mountains, I think the first is an American Robin but not sure of the other. I don't think it is a Bluebird from the photos I have seen from other members. Thanks for looking. Bob

Great captures, Bob.
I'd say the unknown bird is a "Scrub Jay". Don't have any in my area. Wish I did!

I have seen the Blue Jays that are in the mountains and they are twice the size of this bird and are mainly bluish is color and are quite a noisy bird that is quite inquisitive. This bird is about the size of the robin and skittish, but he and his mate enjoyed pooping on our satellite dish and motorhome mirror. Not sure what the attraction was, but I bet he was sorry when we left. Thanks for commenting, Bob

thanks Dave, I have problems with bird names for some reason, all that we have now in the NV desert are crows and a few dove. Bob

Thanks Tom, you have to give them that good birdseed and worms for better photos. Bob

Great shots Bob. I can confirm the second is a Scrub Jay. Lots of them here in the West.

Charlie, I think the birds get confused up there and return for the winter. You must have some good birdseed. I haven't even seen a photo of Buzz lately. Bob

thanks for the encouragement Jer, I had to do some talking to get the robin to pose with the worm in its mouth. Bob
