Black Helicopters

I was in my shop today when the unmistakable sound of blades beating the air made me walk out side.

I looked up as 4 helicopters slowly flew right over me in formation. That wasn't so strange, but these helis proceeded to fly a grid pattern right around my shop for the next hour... slowly.

My sister called the shop and said she had the same four helis flying over her house as well in the same slow grid pattern. Pretty weird.

Made for a nice photo opportunity though. Might need to break out the tinfoil!

It looks like it was for a ceremony or someone else's photo op. Those Helos are never used for the same missions. It is very odd they were flying together unless for a specific purpose.

Well, I found out why they were flying over. They must have been in a holding pattern.

Today was the funeral of David Carter, the helicopter pilot of the Chinook that was shot down in Afghanistan last week. The formation flew over the funeral as the Chief Warrant Officer was given a 21 gun salute.

I feel bad now. You and your family are in our prayers sir.

Interesting. I saw a similar group of choppers in Japan in 2002. I wonder if that was a similar reason? I thought it was odd to have many different helicopters in the same formation.
