It was a cold day out
Posted By: scott-devon, 12-17-2006, 05:56 PM

But.. I took a few that my shivering didn't totally blur.

and this is what comes of shooting into the sun then playing with saturation and contrast.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas...and hoping for milder shooting weather.

Looks good Scott, I really like #1, #3 and #4.
I think that the bird in #2 messed up on the pose

I kinda wish that I would have gone out yesterday morning when we had similar trees and fences to your first picture. However it's already -17.Celsius here so there's a pretty good chance that I'll be able to get the shots tomorrow.

I hope that it warms up a little for you.

#2 is a baby ostrich, head in sand.
Really like the shots. They convey the cold, that is if you are familiar with winter.
#1 with the sun on the frosted weed is excellent.

Hi Scott.

I like 1st and 4th shot. The gleaming light was a feature for me there. Love that.

I love birds and I wished the 2nd shot was sharper (but I know how difficult to have a sharp pic in low light situation). Maybe you can darken the shot, make it black and white or even sepia, lens blurr the image to some sort of artistic shot?

Great winter escape by looking at your photos

HI Scott, I like the last one the best..but what is the dot and line up in the top left corner? At a second look, I think it might be dust on the sensor.

Scott , thanks I didn't notice that mark. I'll have to check it out.

Laker and Clarence..you're right that darn bird got camera shy and ducked just as the shutter went.

I have a pretty huge collection of bird shots where the subject turned. They're good at timing it

Very nice series. The first shot really caught my eye though. I like how the top of the sapling is highlighted and almost everything else is in the shadows.

The house finch (?) also looks like you got some good detail in the feathers. Nicely done. It looks like he was in some pretty dark shadows when you caught him.
