Edmonton Dragon Boat Races
Lens: Tamron 70-200 / DA* 50-135 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Edmonton

We went to the Edmonton Dragon Boat races today. It was pretty neat and I am thinking of entering a team in next year. Need 20 people pay the entry fee. I think you get at least 3 races. They supply the boat and lessons (which are extra of course). Everyone paddles against the current.

The best times are just over two minutes and some of the slower ones are about 3 1/2. It looked like a blast.

Dave, those are some fun shots, especially since I don't have to do the rowing. It does look like that is a blast though, strictly a summer outing. and I bet quite competitive. Bob

Thanks Bob you and me both ! I was talking to a few competitors after they raced. My first question is why is the finish line upstream . They also mentioned on the lanes (lane 3 towards the bank) was at a bit of a dissadvantage as the current was stronger. It was quite competitive some teams were there to win for sure , others were just enjoying the avtivites and the day. I am really considering getting a team in for next year.

Now, a Dragon Boat is something I've never come (or sail) across. Colorful and interesting.

Nice shots, you see them training near the western beaches in Toronto inside the break-wall, from time to time. Great perspective.
