Black Sea coast in winter
Posted By: countzero, 11-28-2007, 10:56 AM

Each summer, the village of "Vama Veche", here in Romania, turns into a makeshift resort with a rock/hippie overtone (think a 5-month-long Burning Man). As there is no heating in most of the accomodation / places of fun, it's abandoned in autumn and rebuild in spring. This is November, and the place looks like a ghost town. I thought you guys might enjoy to look at some far-away places

Nice series and BW conversion. Great story - it would be neat to see the same pictures next summer. I can just see the beaches teaming with activity.

I LOVE your first shot. They're all really exceptional, but that first one is a knock-out. Having said that... I still have to ask: is the horizon a bit slanted? I think if it were corrected, this shot would and should be published.

Very nice series, thanks for posting them. B+W in camera or conversion?

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. They're RAW conversions in PS. Shot with a K10D and the FA35.

RE the firstt shot - can you spot the bow of a sunken ship raising from the waves? (I'm not kidding)

The same in summer is a GREAT ideea - only need to find time to go

I kind of like the last one.
No, can't see anyhting rising from the waves.

I wish I could do B&W like these.

I take it back. I don't think the horizon is slanted. I believe my eyes were fooled by the way in which the shore line slants downward towards the sea. And no... I also cannot see any bow rising out of the waves. It's just a great shot.

I agree I like that first shot as well. Very good series and story. The horizon is slanted only in the first one but the poles look straight.
