A couple from the February Earthquake
Camera: K-7 Photo Location: Christchurch
Posted By: Pete Prue, 08-23-2011, 12:09 AM

A couple I processed last night from February's EQ

One is taken at sunset outside our place showing the liquefaction - once the diggers arrived and dug out the silt the road had dropped about a metre (that's 3ft) where the kerb used to be.

The other is the Catholic Basilica. A beautiful building that I always thought I'd get around to photographing - I just never thought it'd be with it in this state.

We were in your beautiful city a year before this tragedy struck. Keep up the good work.

sobering shots pete.... one thing to reconstruct/rebuild roads and buildings... psychologically, it must be more difficult to come to grips to this disaster... wishing you and yours the very best.... dave m

Strong photos of the devastation that struck this city, over 60 killed, hundreds injured and they still have the strength to rebuild and recover. Thanks for sharing and reminding us that our lives can change in seconds. Bob
