A lot of us have a 'fast 50' I bought one used the second week I had a DSLR cause one the first things I read was you gotta have a fast 50 . I have hardly used it to be truthful , but once in a while I put it on and impressed. Hope to use it more often.

Dave, I have the same lens as you and thinking about it I really don't know why I haven't used it. I always got such great color, thanks for the hint, I have never even put it on the K-5 but I am going to. Watch for a thread called "The Color of Desert Dirt, How It Matches my Eyes". Bob

ha well Jim back then I only had a couple of Sigma consumer lens an 18-125 and a 70-300 I think - I 'needed' a fast 50 (or at least I thought I did).

THis was my first time on the K5 - it is sharp and the colors are good I hope to force myself to use it more.

I've gotta couple of 50's, including an FA/1.4, but never seem to use them, either. My FA50/1.4 is very soft wide open and still pretty mushy at f/2. Consequently, when I got a DA 40/2.8 early in my digital days, I pretty much stopped using my 50s. Still, that 50 is super when stopped down.

i have half a dozen 50's but use my 28 more
they are handy in low light but the FOV is narrower than I want most times
it's one of the reasons I'll buy a FF if one ever comes along (for now I'll shoot them on film)
