Your photo got the best of my curiosity, and that is what photography is all about, for others to view and enjoy . You say these are buns, do you slice them and put cheese, vegetables or meat between them, or are they more like a dumpling. Either way you got my attention and being homemade I bet they are wonderful. thanks Bob

Bob,
The buns are some bread-like pastry, with minced meat and vegetables inside. They are steamed like dumpling. The main difference with dumpling is the pastry/skin, while buns are somehow bigger than dumpling (handfeast size).

On the shot, you see cooked buns in the foregound on the plate, while other buns re steamed in the cooking pot in the bakground.

Thank you for the comment,

I do not know "pot stickers" hence I do not know how they taste.

The meat and vegie buns are somehow like some "filos" which are steamed instead of being cooked in the oven. (The other difference is the pastry: bread pastry for buns vs puff pastry for filos.)
I can tell you that freshly-steamed buns are defintiely yummy. None are left!
Cheers,

Are they like char siu bao?

It's interesting to see Chinese food being cooked using a western-style steamer when I use a wok and a stack of bamboo steamers to cook western-style food

Richard.

Thank you for the comment.
I lived in Far East Asia for nearly 2 years, and it is common to see people using either modern (western-style) cookers or traditional bamboo steamers.
