Getting ready for Hurricane Irene.

Once Hurricane Irene clears NC it's going to get interesting for the big cities along the East coast. My turn is tommorrow a little past noon and the thinking for me is sustained winds for hours at around 50-60 mph and around 3" of rain which isn't a lot since we will be on the right quadrant of the storm. The pano shows the trees around my home that are there at present. What will tommorrow bring.---charliezap

Hey Charlie, lets hope this thing stalls out and heads east. Nice pano that hopefully remains the same. Be safe, Bob

Hey Capn - sounds like Irene will be down to a Tropical Storm by the time it reaches you. Still, these things are nothing to sneeze and care should be taken. I'm sure you'll come through fine.

BTW, those of us here in arid Texas, would take the 60 mph winds just to get the 3" of rain.

Hang in there, buddy.

As of 4:15 pm the storm is still centered in NC and I have over 1" of rain accumulated. They sat 2-4" but I think that it's going over that when all is said and done.No wind yet.---charliezap

I'm in northern VA about 35 miles west of DC. We have had rain all day, but it hasn't been very heavy. Within the last hour or so, I have noticed the wind kicking up and the rain is getting heavier. Noticed one post in another thread that New Bern, NC got 15" of rain.
