From a recent trip to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Linville Falls (C&C always welcome):

1. Classic view of the upper and lower falls from Chimney View [DA 16-45 @ 21mm, f8, 0.3 sec (using ND filter)]:

2. And a view of the view: Chimney View as seen from Erwin's View [DA* 200 @ f8]:

3. Fraser Magnolia [DA* 200 @ f2.8]:

4. Part of the Upper Falls in moonlight. OK, not really in moonlight, but the shot wasn't very interesting so I did a B&W conversion with a blue tint plus fairly strong pseudo-HDR to dodge the shadows [DA* 200 @ f8, 0.7 sec w/ND filter]:

5. Finally, on the drive home, some wild turkeys [DA* 200 @ f4.5]:

Great shots, especially the B&W falls, as well as the Turkeys!

Boy, do these bring back memories of my excursions into the mountains of NC: lovely country and fun fishing. "The classic" is classic--well done!

Thanks to all! Glad you like the B&W shot -- as I say it wasn't very interesting before PP, so it was fun to salvage it that way.

A truly satisfying series - most of my time in NC was at Fort Bragg, so this casts a new light on the state for me . I'll throw in another vote for the B&W one, but I also dig the leaf in number 3. But heck, they're all nice.

Thanks Heirnich! I'm glad I didn't throw that one away, as I might have done. This was my first test with ND filters and I got a little carried away.

Right, no waterfalls to speak of in the Sandhills. Thanks for the kind words, Jer.

Thanks Dave -- yes, lots of great scenes in the NC mountains. The far SW corner of the state is especially good for waterfalls; hope to make it there next spring.
