Bison in Waterton Lakes N.P.
Lens: 55-300 and Bigma Camera: K5

Parks Canada maintains a small herd of Bison In Waterton Lakes National Park in a "Bison Paddock". A narrow one lane road snakes through the area and is open to visitors. I spent many hours watching and photographing these amazing animals. Here are a few:

Pretty amazing, Heinrich. The first one give the scale necessary to appreciate the others. I beautiful bit of photography, for sure.

Great shots Heinrich, looks like the herd is doing quite well with the new calves. I bet they have to thin the herd every couple of years. Beautiful country, thanks Bob

Great place Heinrich - I need to get there some day - they sure are archaic beasts well done.

Hi Bob and thank you. The heard is kept small to avoid overgrazing, if one drives through the area without seeing the Bison one would never guess that they are there, the grassland looks undisturbed.
