I was standing on Thin Ice for this one
Posted By: little laker, 11-30-2007, 09:21 PM

When I got to the position I wanted for this 22 image panoramic I heard the ice under my feet cracking. (I thought I was still on land)
Thankfully I didn't brake through. It was a long walk back to my car

If I would have broken through I would have only been in a few inches of water, so I wasn't in any real danger this time.

That's an excellent shot Stu! Nice even exposure all the way along. Very well done. Tell me you weren't the one that walked out to the water's edge! I see foot prints.

Thanks Peter, and no I didn't walk to the waters edge.
Those were deer tracks, so my guess is that she needed a drink.

I might not be smart enough to keep off thin ice, but I'm smart enough to carry a bottle of water so I don't have to try that

Wow! Stunning!!

Glad the ice didn't crack! Though, you may have just gotten your socks wet.

Nice panoramic. I really like the way the sky changes from left to right.

Nice, What lens did you use, and what program to stitch?

A very nice Pano Stu. Love the winter shots you enthusiasts capture over in your part of the world.
However, being more used to the 20-40 deg Cels, in this part of the world, I feel that the cold would just about kill me!
Well done!

Thank you everyone.

I used my Vivitar 28mm f2.8, and cheated with autostitch again.
It appears to be a winning combo for me.

Another great pano Stu, nice job! I really like the transition in the sky on this one. I'm sure it would look great hanging on a wall where you could take the whole thing in at once.

I didn't even realize how impressive that was until I scrolled to the bottom, couldn't find the reply box, and noticed that I had seen less than half the photo!

Outstandingly impressive image and my respect to you for the dedication to getting it. I would have balked at the cold, the ice, the water, and the 22 images!

May I say that this would be a perfect candidate for the new "imgwide" and "/imgwide" tags?

Thanks Mike, had it not been for your comment I would still be looking for the footprints Peter saw.

Great pano Stu - love the sky as others have mentioned. The water , the snow , the trees , I have been on ice before and heard it crack - a disconcerning sound for sure.

Curious what was the final file size of the stiched pano ?

That is really nice! I like how the colors fade into black and white to the left!
