Bird on a Feeder

I really am not much of a bird watcher, but my parents are fanatics, so they've got all these bird feeders in the yard. I was playing with the DA50-200 lens one day and caught this bird, I was about 2 feet away from the feeder when I took this.

Two feet from him? That's a pretty brave bird that let you get that close.

Brave is right for this Black Capped Chickadee. They don't usually stay still for long.

As for the bird-feeder, man that looks like the Rolls Royce of bird feeders.

Yeah, they land, grab a piece of food and zoom, they're gone. I had to focus on the feeder because the bird wouldn't stop moving, so if you look real carefully the bird's beak is slightly out of focus, but the feeder is perfectly in focus.

My parents complain constantly about the bird feeders being raided by squirrels and racoons so my father has purchased every feeder contraption known to man to try and stop the theft. This one's pretty good, if a bird lands on it, no problem he can access the food, if something heavier grabs onto it the outer sleeve slides down by the theft's weight and closes the little portholes so he can't access the food. Seems to work.
